How to Use Black Kow® in Flower Beds

QUICK ANSWER

For a new bed, spread a 1½-inch layer of Black Kow® Organic Cow Manure Blend and mix it into the top 6 inches of soil. For an existing bed, add a ½- to 1-inch layer once or twice a year and mix it into the top of the soil.

Step by step

    Clear the bed

    Pull weeds and remove rocks and old roots.

    Spread Black Kow

    Spread a layer about 1½ inches thick.

  3. 3

    Mix it in

    Work it into the top 6 inches of soil.

    Plant and water

    Set your plants and water thoroughly.

    Top up each year

    Add a ½- to 1-inch layer once or twice a year and mix it into the top of the soil.

How many bags of Organic Cow Manure Blend (1 cu ft)

  • 4' x 6' bed (24 sq ft): 1 bag at ½ in., 2 at 1 in., 3 at 1½ in.
  • 4' x 12' bed (48 sq ft): 2, 4, or 6 bags.
  • 6' x 12' bed (72 sq ft): 3, 6, or 9 bags.

Using Organic In-Ground Garden Soil instead

  • Spread 3 inches of product.
  • Mix into the top 3 inches of existing soil.
  • Dig a hole and plant new plants. Apply mulch (optional).
  • Refresh annually. One 1.5 cu ft bag covers 6 sq ft.
